A multilayered MME energy harvester for self-powered IoT nodes

With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the stable operation of wireless sensor networks is crucial for grid security. However, the power supply problem of sensor nodes remains prominent, and the environmental pollution due to chemical batteries must be urgently solved. Energy harvesting (EH) technology has become an ideal solution for self-powering nodes, in which the magneto-magnetic-electric (MME) energy conversion mechanism has attracted much attention. This paper proposes a multilayered MME energy harvester to enhance the output power and reduce the internal impedance for better load matching. Experimental results show that the optimal load is 50[Formula: see text]k[Formula: see text] and the open-circuit voltage reaches 26.9[Formula: see text]V PP in the series mode under a driving magnetic field of 2[Formula: see text]Oe. The optimal load significantly decreases to 3[Formula: see text]k[Formula: see text] and the open-circuit voltage remains at a high level of 7.6[Formula: see text]V PP when selecting a parallel mode. This low internal impedance provides favorable conditions for power management and subsequent circuit design.
