CONOCIMIENTOS SOBRE MÉTODOS ANTICONCEPTIVOS EN JÓVENES UNIVERSITARIOS
Sexual and reproductive health is a fundamental aspect in the health of all subjects, which contributes to safe sexuality, without coercion, without discrimination and without violence. The purpose was to identify the knowledge that young university students have about contraceptive methods through descriptive cross-sectional quantitative research in 91 young university students from a bachelor's degree program in the health area at a public university in the state of Campeche, Mexico. For this purpose, the scale of knowledge and correct use of contraceptive methods was used, which is made up of identification data, generalities and aspects of sexual life and the knowledge section on contraceptive methods. The data were analyzed in the statistical program for social sciences (SPSS) version 23. The results were obtained that 99% know about condoms, 90% about the IUD and 89% about pills, in addition, 43% of the young people surveyed received the information by health personnel. 77% stated that they maintain a sexually active life, 60% said that they have always used contraceptive methods. Regarding knowledge of contraceptive methods, it stands out that 53.8% present a medium level and only 30.8% a high level. The data obtained shows that young people know about contraceptive methods and the advantages of using them, which could be a determining factor for responsible sexual and reproductive health. Key words: knowledge, young people, contraceptive methods, university students.
