Research Progress on the Role of Nutrition and Dietary Intervention in the Management of Obesity

The purpose of this paper is to review the current epidemiological evidence on the relationship between nutrition, diet, and the treatment of obesity, emphasizing the importance of diet and nutrition in the course of obesity and providing a basis for the formulation of dietary guidelines for obese patients. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using keywords such as obesity, diet, and nutrition in CNKI and PubMed. The role of nutrition and diet in obesity was reviewed. It was found that proteins, carbohydrates, and fats are significantly associated with the occurrence and development of obesity; micronutrient deficiencies are common in obese patients; certain plant chemicals such as polyphenols, ketone bodies, and fiber can serve as adjunctive therapeutic means for obesity; and the implementation of specially designed dietary plans for obese patients needs to consider individual differences. In summary, diet and nutrition are important components of the comprehensive management of obese patients, and rational nutritional support and dietary intervention are important therapeutic strategies for obesity.
