Successful Recanalization of Chronic Central Venous Occlusion Using a CTO Wire: A Case Series

Chronic central venous occlusion commonly occurs in hemodialysis patients due to prolonged catheter use.Conventional techniques with 0.035-inch wires often fail in dense fibrotic lesions. We describe three cases successfully treated using a 0.018-inch support catheter and chronic total occlusion wire. This method allowed effective lesion crossing, balloon angioplasty, and stent placement. All procedures achieved immediate technical success and clinical improvement without significant complications. This approach is safe and effective for managing challenging central venous lesions.
