THE IMAGE OF A CHINESE TEACHER IN VENEDIKT MART’S STORY “THE MAN WITH THE BALLOON”

The image of a Chinese teacher in the story “The Man with the Balloon” by the Far Eastern writer Venedikt Mart is studied in this work in the context of the socio-political problems of the 1920s, which worried Chinese and Soviet society, and the ethnocultural, metal literary and artistic attitudes of the writer. Mart’s deep insight into Chinese traditional thinking, the basic universals of Chinese consciousness, and excellent knowledge of the Chinese educational system are reflected in a typical episode from the daily life of a Chinese school on the eve of violent revolutionary events. V. Mart strives not only to artistically comprehend the issues of Chinese education, but also to raise the question of the need for its reform. His story is a projection into the problems that concern Soviet society, as well as an attempt to harmonize artistic and ethnographic searches with a new social reality.
