FOLK WHEELCHAIR TOY “STEAMBOAT”/ SHIP/ BOAT OF THE FEDOSEEVSKY CRAFT: THE IMAGE OF THE WORLD

The article analyzes the archetypal codes of the Fedoseyev ride-on toy “Steamboat”. To study the complex steamboat/ship/boat/vessel, the materials of archeology and art history starting from the Neolithic era, historical and folk etymology of the Russian language, and the imagery of parallel crafts of Russian folk culture are used. It is concluded that in the established image of the ship-chariot of the Fedoseyev craft of the late 19th – mid-20th centuries, the features of the daytime solar principle prevailed, and the model of a harmonious, orderly universe of paradise on earth was embodied.
