Singapore method as a proposal to improve mathematical skills in university students

This study explores mathematical skills in a group of elementary education university students in order to propose better strategies for strengthening these abilities. The work was framed within the positivist paradigm, using a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design of basic descriptive type. The sample included 32 students selected through non-probabilistic sampling. An observation guide with 22 items was applied. The results showed that 56% of the participants still maintain a low level in relation to the development of mathematical skills, suggesting the need to work on various strategies and methods that help improve their competencies and therefore their abilities.
