Are Teachers Resistant to Change? Perception ofPre-university Teachers on Work Conditions
The dynamics of changes in Romanian school organizations during the last years has created difficulties especially for unexperienced teachers. In the context of our training classes for master students that intend to develop their competences for school management, we have proposed to investigate teachers’ perception on work conditions. The variables that interested us especially was teachers’ perception on work rhythm and workload. The investigated group consisted of 31 teachers, students at the Master of Educational Management, aged between 23 and 31 years old, with 5-8 years’ experience in teaching. In order to achieve the aim of our study, we applied QEAW (Questionnaire on the Experience and Assessment of Work), created by Van Veldhoven and Meijman since 1994. Data have been completed with information obtained during focus group interviews with the same subjects. Results have indicated that investigated teachers feel overwhelmed because of the amount of their duties and because of the rhythm of their work. Other results are discussed here.
