THE CRIMEAN TATAR NATIONAL MOVEMENT OF 1917 – EARLY 1918 IN UKRAINIAN HISTORY TEXTBOOKS FOR HIGH SCHOOL, 2018 EDITION

Studying the past, traditions, and culture of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine – Crimean Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks – is important for the consolidation and development of the modern Ukrainian nation, and understanding coexistence on a common territory. For a long time, the Crimean Tatar topic, especially the first half of the 20th century, remained out of the spotlight of high school textbooks. Therefore, the article researches the methodological approaches used in textbooks on the history of Ukraine of the standard level for the 10th grade of general secondary education institutions, published in 2018, revealing the issues of the Crimean Tatar national movement of 1917 – early 1918. It was found that in the new textbooks for grade 10, this issue is considered in the context of the Ukrainian Revolution. In some cases, the issue under the study is considered within a separate paragraph. The basis of the presentation of the material is the author's text. In addition to the main text, some authors of the textbooks have provided work with historical text documents, as well as illustrations (historical photographs). Some educational publications provide biographical information about figures of the Crimean Tatar national movement. Usually, the provided materials are accompanied by questions. The analysis of textbooks shows that the issues of the Crimean Tatar national movement of 1917 – early 1918 are presented on the pages of textbooks, however, there is still a noticeable lack of cartographic material, the use of illustrations, and documentary sources.
