REFERENCE PILLAR IN PULMONARY REHABILITATION: IAȘI
Integrated pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is crucial for managing chronic respiratory conditions, significantly enhancing patients' quality of life. The 2023 guidelines from the American Thoracic Society (ATS) define pulmonary rehabilitation as a tailored intervention that includes exercise training, education, and self-management aimed at improving both physical and psychological health. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the use of telehealth solutions in COPD management, with studies indicating that telerehabilitation can produce outcomes comparable to in-person rehabilitation. Additionally, self-management interventions have been shown to improve quality of life and reduce hospital admissions. Since the 1970s, pulmonary rehabilitation has evolved, with leading centers like the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic in Iași, Romania significantly influencing patient care and education. The Respiratory Rehabilitation Clinic at Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital from Iași currently implements comprehensive rehabilitation programs, focusing on ongoing assessment and coordination among healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans and enhance patient outcomes in respiratory health.
