Experiential Learning to Integrate QGis and Power BI in Forestry Education to Develop Professional Background Skills

One of the primary roles of higher education is to prepare undergraduate students to be valuable contributors to society and the workplace through their professional performance (Jonathan & Laik, 2021). Mere theoretical knowledge and technological skills are insufficient to meet the comprehensive professional background required by society nowadays. Therefore, universities, through their undergraduate curricula, are expected to enhance knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors relevant to understanding and working with people (Bullard, 2015). Consequently in this dynamic landscape of higher education, the integration of technology to develop professional skills has become indispensable. This abstract explores the fusion of the software Power BI, QGis, and an experiential learning framework within an undergraduate first-year forestry education course at Universidad de Aysén, Chile. By synergizing these tools, students gain practical insights, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The learning experience has been positively assessed by students as a significant contribution to their professional development.
