Take Charge! Inclusive Design to Engage Children as Their Healthcare Partner
MySmileBuddy is a research-informed, family-based approach to develop childrens’ oral health behavior. While the program was effective in parent-led behavioral change, this project addresses the need to actively engage children as their own healthcare partner by presenting a design of graphic novel and gamified experience. The goal is to engage families in the process of behavioral change while children actively participate and develop life-long healthy habits. In order to develop a life-long behavioral change, it is important to engage children, the subject of health behavior, as the active participant through family-based health education.
