Strange Behaviour of Boiling Around Wire Heater at The Pressure Condition Very Close to The Lambda Point
Abstract The anomalous boiling was observed just very close to the lambda point under microgravity condition in our experiments. However, no reports of such an anomalous feature of superfluid helium (He II) boiling have been found in the experiments under terrestrial gravity. Thus, the He II boiling experiments in the vicinity of lambda point were carried out under 1-g condition. The pressure was raised very slowly around the lambda temperature at the fixed heat flux to achieve a quasi-steady state. Strange behaviours of film boiling in He II did appear at very close to the lambda point. Furthermore, the boiling heat transfer coefficient just above the lambda point was higher than that just below the lambda point.
