A cryogenic temperature edge dislocation motion model of FCC 316LN stainless steel based on molecular dynamics
Abstract The dislocation slip patterns and micro-stress fields generated by accumulation at cryogenic temperature are the main reasons for the formation of twins or structural phase transformations in metallic materials during deformation. A unit cell model with Fe0.7Ni0.13Cr0.17 was established based on molecular dynamics (MD). The movement of the edge dislocation under applied stress was simulated at 10-300 K. It was observed that the movement of edge dislocation line (DL) requires additional obstacle energy at cryogenic temperature. Based on the MD simulation results, a numerical motion model of edge dislocations in 316LN SS at cryogenic temperature was established.
