Enhancing Road Safety: A Pedestrian-to-Vehicle Collision Warning System Integrating Location-Based P2P and LiDAR Sensing
Pedestrian-to-vehicle collisions pose a significant risk in modern traffic environments. This paper presents a collision warning system that integrates a location-based peer-to-peer (P2P) network with LiDAR sensing technology to enhance road safety. By incorporating road users detected by LiDAR as virtual peers, the system enables the visualization of both connected and non-networked users on mobile applications. Field experiments confirmed that the proposed system effectively detects and displays road users, providing timely collision warnings. These results highlight the system's potential to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety through innovative integration of P2P and LiDAR technologies.
