Digital Twin System for Wireless Mesh Camera Node Placement Optimization of Japanese Small and Medium Sized Rivers Monitoring

In recent years, the risk of river flooding has increased in Japan due to the intensification of natural disasters, but river monitoring facilities have not been adequately developed for small and medium sized rivers. Wireless Mesh Camera Networks (WMCN) based on Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are expected to be used in river monitoring of small and medium sized rivers. In this paper, we propose a digital twin system that optimizes the placement of camera nodes based on virtual reproduction of real environment topographic data around rivers and visualizes the results using PLATEAU data. Simulation results show that the proposed system can provides the river administrator with camera node placement considering the real environment.
