A High-Reliability and Low-Load Data Delivery Method in Distributed MQTT Broker Infrastructures

The research and development of distributed MQTT broker infrastructures are currently progressing. In communication within a distributed MQTT broker infrastructure, improving reliability is crucial. One method to enhance communication reliability on distributed MQTT broker infrastructures involves establishing multiple connections between the client and the broker to send the same data simultaneously. However, since the publisher sends the same data, the subscriber side will receive duplicated data, resulting in unnecessary communication. Therefore, this paper proposes a low-overhead data distribution method that reduces unnecessary communication while maintaining reliability. We evaluated the proposed method on virtual machines on actual hardware and confirmed that the proposed method can distribute data with high reliability and low overhead by varying the number of brokers.
