Smart Traffic Control and Spectrum Management in Beyond 5G Networks with NNR and D2D Technology

Developing technology for networks beyond fifth generation (B5G) that supports important aspects including lower power consumption, high data rates, and spectrum efficiency is called device-to-device (D2D) communication. Efficient spectrum allocation and appropriate power control are two major issues in D2D networks caused by dynamic traffic arrivals. This research proposes a new method to maximize the spectral efficiency of the D2D network. To address the complexity of the problem, we formulate it as a Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem. Since finding a global optimal solution is extremely difficult, we introduce a two-step optimization technique: the first step is the optimal resource allocation algorithm (ORAA), which utilizes the concept of queue dynamics, and the optimal power control algorithm, which adapts the Lyapunov stability method. Additionally, we employ Nearest Neighbor Routing to reduce the impact of system traffic and network congestion. The proposed solution delivers increased spectral efficiency up to 21.6 percent and minimizes latency up to 39.89 percent when compared to the benchmark methods. In order to improve intelligent transportation systems, the proposed method will be highly beneficial for intelligent traffic control.
