High-Power Microwave Ring-Focused Dual-Reflector Antenna for Satellite Communication and Interference, and Wireless Microwave Power Transmission

In this paper, an integrated modeling method for high power microwave ring-focused dual reflector antenna based on coordinate rotation is proposed. The antenna consists of a mode converter, a horn feed, a sealed dielectric, a sub-reflector, and a main reflector. Mode converter can convert coaxial TEM wave of any size into TE11 focused on axial transmission. Feeding horn is used for initial beamforming of high-power electromagnetic waves, dielectrics for vacuum sealed with high power capacity, and secondary and primary reflectors for achieving focused radiation. Thanks to the coordinate rotation, the pattern of horn feed can be modeled integrally with the sub-reflector. The L-band high power microwave ring-focused dual reflector antenna has been designed and the prototype is made, with coaxial main mode TEM-TEM reflection coefficients of less than -10 dB and -15 dB in 1.4 1.8 GHz and 1.5 1.69 GHz, respectively. The reflection coefficient of coaxial high order mode TEM-TE11 is less than -15dB in 1.51 1.8 GHz, and that of TEM-TE21 is less than -29 dB in 1.4 1.8 GHz. The antenna gain is about 31 dBi. The power capacity can reach 1.53 GW when charging 0.31 MPa of SF6 and about 2.76 GW under vacuum conditions which could be verified by simulation and experimental measurement.
