Enhanced P&O Algorithm for Optimized Grid-Connected Solar Inverters
The surge in demand for energy across the world is a driving force for the development of photovoltaic (PV) systems, which require functioning inverters for proper grid integration. Converters or inverters are of utmost importance when transforming the direct current (DC) output from solar panels into AC power conditioned for grid connection. Of the numerous possibilities in approaches to MPPT, the one that's arguably the most popular because of its straightforwardness is the P&O algorithm. However, conventional P&O algorithms has one too many flaws like rough oscillations at the maximum MPP, converging too slowly, and not being precise enough under rapidly changing temperature and irradiance conditions. To address these issues, this study develops an enhanced P&O algorithm with an adjustable hybrid step-size and adaptive feedback system to improve the level of precision and power stability. A DC-DC step down converter is coupled with a grid synchronizer to the system for smooth acceleration and steady power release. Simulation and experimental testing prove that the new approach is significantly better than conventional methods because of increased speed in tracking PV outputs, reduced fluctuations around the MPP, and increased overall efficiency in power conversion. Moreover, incorporating PV systems with artificial intelligence for advanced control opens new opportunities to optimize the performance of solar energy systems and enhances their functionality dramatically. The results help in the development of smart solar inverters, enabling more dependable and cost-effective harnessing of solar energy through the grid.
