Revolutionizing Antenna Design: Meta Surfaces with Hole Arrays for MIMO Applications

Recent advancements in wireless communication have increased the need for innovative antennas that can achieve superior speed and provide stable connectivity. Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology functions as a primary solution to fulfill current demands of wireless data transmission systems. Standard MIMO antennas face manufacturing difficulties because of their high mutual coupling and limited bandwidth which degrades system performance. Modern wireless systems face continuous difficulties in designing efficient and compact structures. MIMO antenna designs traditionally use complicated structures with parasitic elements as a solution to reduce signal interference. The traditional methods for MIMO antenna design succeed but occupy more space and increasing the difficulties in the manufacturing process. The research proposes a novel method using hole-arrayed meta-surfaces to optimize MIMO antenna functionality. The design works to minimize mutual coupling combined with bandwidth expansion for a compact size. The meta -surface configurations have meticulously optimized to achieve exceptional radiation efficiency and characteristics. The results of simulation tests and experimental data demonstrate how mutual coupling reduces dramatically decrease to -20 dB level throughout the complete operational range. The proposed design delivers greater than 30 % wider bandwidth than standard antenna designs. The radiation patterns demonstrate that the antenna provides perfect directivity and gain which surpasses 8 dBi. The miniature antenna design makes it highly suitable for integration into modern wireless devices. Overall, the meta-surface-based antenna solution demonstrates potential to become a suitable solution for MIMO systems in the next generation.
