Hollow-core fibers for gas-filled Raman lasers
Anti-resonant hollow core fibers (HCFs) have found numerous applications as high energy transport fibers and as fiber lasers. In this study, we report on progress using methane gas filled HCFs for efficient wavelength conversion to produce lasers at 1.5 μm wavelength. We explore the relationship between the fiber gas pressure and the Raman gain coefficient. We compare modelling results with experimental measurements of HCF fiber lasers for various fiber lengths and gas pressures towards understanding their potential scaling for use as high-power lasers.
