Fast coherent pulsing in large arrays of semiconductor lasers with transverse coupling and disordered parameters
Coherent fast pulsing in large arrays of semiconductor lasers represents a new paradigm for applications as varied as LiDAR and optical computing, but insights from comprehensive simulations are still lacking to guide the experiments. In this work, we numerically investigate methods to optimize phase synchrony in a pulsing laser array subject to decayed coupling by tuning the parameters of the lasers, such as the frequency detuning, the feedback misalignment and the pump current. In particular, the role of engineered disorder is reviewed and shed the light on new nonlinear dynamics allowed by the coupling network, which includes robust coherent pulsing.
