Coherent beam combining with optical phased array lasers for free space optical communication (FSO)
Coherent Beam Combining with Optical Phased Array Lasers for Free Space Optical Communication (FSO) Free Space Optical Communication (FSO) is a promising technology for secure, high-speed data transmission, offering advantages such as large bandwidth and no spectrum licensing. However, FSO faces challenges like atmospheric distortions and line-of-sight alignment issues. Current solutions focus on enhancing receiver detection but have limitations. A new approach utilizes Dynamic Beam Lasers with Coherent Beam Combining (CBC) and Optical Phased Array (OPA) technology. This enables wavefront correction and rapid beam steering at MHz frequencies, improving signal reliability. Derived from advancements in high-power lasers up to 120 kW, this technology significantly enhances FSO communication performance.
