The role of magnetic resonance imaging-guide surgery in cytokines of immune cells and effect in glioma patients
This study explored the influence of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-assisted surgery on immune cell cytokines and efficacy treatment of patients with gliomas, as a deeper understanding to support surgery on the body immune status, and to provide evidence for clinical management. We performed a retrospective analysis of 180 glioma patients at Qianjiang Hospital from January 2022 to December 2023. The patients were divided into a CG of traditional craniotomy and a RG of MRI-assisted stereotactic minimally invasive surgery. Between the two groups, the postoperative immune cell factors, treatment outcomes, cognitive function, daily activities, and adverse reactions (ARs) were compared. The use of MRI assistance had significantly more favorable postoperative outcomes, including lower rates of infections, 30-day hospital readmissions, and unplanned operating room returns. Patients in this group also had shorter stays in the hospital, less deep vein thrombosis and fewer pulmonary complications. The 30-day mortality rate was significantly lower in the MRI-assisted group, which also scored higher on the QoR-15, reflecting a better quality of recovery. Compared to the control group, the MRI-assisted group's immune cells had higher concentrations of IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, and IFN-γ, and lower concentrations of IL-6, TNF-α, and TGF-β, indicating a more robust immune response as well as improved regulation of inflammation. MRI-assisted surgery promotes immune factors and improves functional abilities, and has better efficacy with fewer adverse reactions, indicating that it has certain clinical values.
