A novel approach to design and a thorough examination of cropped delta wing performance with and without eco-friendly enhancements

• Cropped delta wings (CDWs) are proposed for reconnaissance applications, showing aerodynamic improvements through profile modifications. • Robust computational models are developed using standardized numerical methods for accurate aerodynamic analysis. • Designs are inspired by aerodynamic traits of the falcon, owl, and bat, leading to innovative wing profiles. • Simulations confirm superior performance of CDWs with nature inspired profiles compared to conventional designs. • Falcon-based design shows 5-15% reductions in drag, turbulence, and noise, with maintained operational efficiency. Determining the final necessary design parameters is made more difficult by the complex design of the cropped delta wing (CDW) planform. They are renowned for their superior stability, maneuverability at elevated angles of attack, performances in adverse-conditions, and their additional advantage in vortex-induced-flows. CDWs can function effectively in various adverse-conditions, including deep-stalls, dives, and combat-maneuvers, rendering them a prominent choice for military applications. Considering its application, the CDW is altered to include nature-inspired design profiles in the trailing. This allows the leading edges to function as the Leading-Edge-Vortex, which is essential for producing lift and makes the aircraft more appropriate for reconnaissance missions at higher altitudes and speeds. In order to examine flow features, this work modifies trailing edge profiles based on bioinspired profiles. This research incorporates nature-inspired profiles of creatures such as Peregrine Falcons, Owls, and Bats. These models are tested with the same condition as that for the base CDW model that are estimated by defined calculations and simulated in ANSYS Fluent. Less than 10% error occurred in the outcomes of a correlation analysis for computational reliability. As a result, the real-time results ensure the employed computational strategy. The outcomes ensure that Falcon-1 operates effectively under constrained circumstances, namely lift to drag ratio, turbulence intensity (%), and acoustics (dB). In spite of this, the updated model has a smaller area, comparatively, which can be attributed to less induced drag and less lift produced. These changes to the underlying CDW designs might result in increased fuel economy.
