Characterizing Arterial Stiffness and Reproductive Status in Hospital-based Nurses: Results From the Champlain Nurses’ Study
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death for Canadian women. Nursing, a predominantly female profession (91%), is the largest health care workforce. High arterial stiffness measured according to pulse wave velocity (PWV) is indicative of poorer vascular health and greater CVD risk. The purpose was to measure arterial health, with regard to shift work and reproductive status, among nurses.
