Development of a Post-Pregnancy Inter-Professional Workshop for Patients With a Hypertensive Disorder of Pregnancy Within an Academic Family Health Team
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), such as preeclampsia and gestational hypertension, significantly contribute to maternal mortality and/or morbidity. Cardiovascular and hemodynamic changes associated with HDPs can persist postpregnancy and predispose patients to future cardiovascular disease. Despite this well established link, gaps in patient and provider awareness and health systems integration remain as barriers to preventative care. In this project we aimed to develop a clinically integrated and evidence-based interprofessional postpartum workshop to educate patients in postpregnancy cardiovascular health.
