Effect of Pregnancy on the Progression of Aortic and Aortic Valve Disease in Patients With Bicuspid Aortic Valves

Pregnancy in women with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is considered safe if the BAV is not severely impaired. However, pregnancy’s impact on BAV/aorta disease progression remains unknown. In this study we aimed to examine the impact of pregnancy on the progression of aortic valve disease and aortic dilation in women with BAV.

Abstract

Pregnancy in women with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is considered safe if the BAV is not severely impaired. However, pregnancy’s impact on BAV/aorta disease progression remains unknown. In this study we aimed to examine the impact of pregnancy on the progression of aortic valve disease and aortic dilation in women with BAV.
