Preeclampsia Screening in the First Trimester Within the Primary Care Setting
Preeclampsia affects 2%-8% of pregnancies and is associated with significant maternal and neonatal morbidity. Current risk assessment strategies on the basis of clinical risk factors have limited sensitivity for predicting early-onset preeclampsia. The Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) algorithm combines maternal history, biophysical, and biochemical markers to enhance risk stratification and has shown effectiveness in improving pregnancy outcomes. In this study we explored the feasibility of implementing FMF-based screening in primary care settings.
