Simultaneous measurements of magnetic susceptibility and electrical transport at extreme conditions

In the study of quantum materials, complementary experimental techniques, such as magnetic susceptibility and electrical transport measurements, play a crucial role in providing a comprehensive understanding of their unique properties. Here, we describe an efficient method that enables simultaneous assessment of both the magnetic and electrical properties of quantum materials such as Ising superconductors. This technique is also highly adaptable and can be applied under extreme conditions of low temperatures and high magnetic fields. The setup employs a tunnel diode oscillator circuit for magnetic susceptibility measurements, while allowing simultaneous measurements of electrical transport. This technique has been successfully integrated into (a) an in-house Oxford TeslatronPT 14 T system and (b) a 30 T cryogenic system at the Synergetic Extreme Condition User Facility. Simultaneous measurements of the electrical transport and magnetic susceptibility of an Ising superconductor (LaSe)1.14(NbSe2)2 have been demonstrated at T down to 0.04 K and H up to 30 T.
