Architecture of RAN Management System Evolution Towards Intelligence

With the progression of technology, the industry has set its sights on exploring the next-generation mobile communication system, known as 6G. Notably, the integration of advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) has catalyzed transformative shifts within 6G, particularly within the Radio Access Network (RAN). To accommodate the implementation of AI and meet the new network requirements of 6G, the RAN's management framework must undergo continuous refinement, evolving into an AI-driven architectural model. This paper aims to analyze the fresh challenges posed by AI technology to RAN management systems, considering the current landscape of management system architectures and ongoing standardization initiatives. Building upon these insights and established standards, we propose recommendations for the design of next-generation RAN management systems, with the objective of guiding their development and offering valuable perspectives.
