Lightweight Design of the Large Arm of Palletizing Robot Based on Inspire Software
Lightweight design has been extensively adopted in the industrial sector, significantly contributing to cost reduction, performance enhancement, and energy conservation. This study focuses on the large arm of a palletizing robot, employing Altair Inspire software to conduct dynamic simulation analysis, initial strength assessment, lightweight design, and subsequent strength verification. Throughout the lightweight design process, the optimal shape control scheme, quality target, and thickness parameters were determined by systematically comparing the results of various optimization analyses. A comparative study was conducted to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of fitting PolyNURBS, adaptive geometric reconstruction, and manual geometric reconstruction. By emphasizing the reduction of stress concentration and the assurance of structural continuity, the adaptive and manual geometric reconstruction methods were selected for the lightweight design of the large arm. This approach successfully achieved a weight reduction of 69.19%. Subsequent strength analysis of the lightweight arm indicated a maximum displacement of 0.2118 mm, a minimum safety factor of 2.4, and a maximum von Mises equivalent stress of 135.5 MPa, thereby fulfilling the required strength design criteria. The study successfully reduced processing costs while ensuring the strength and stiffness of the large arm, thereby enhancing the responsiveness and reliability of the palletizing robot. Consequently, it establishes a foundational basis for the lightweight design of palletizing robots.
