High-Performance ASIC Design for Pipelined DDR2 SDRAM Controllers
The embedded system must be able to run multiple apps simultaneously. The popularity of Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (DDR2 SDRAM) is attributed to its speed and burst access capabilities. An interface-like SDRAM module that helps to decrease power consumption and increase frequency is DDR2 SDRAM. DDR transferring is supported by synchronous dynamic random-access memory. There are several operations that need to be pipelined in the memory controller. Both rising and falling edges of the clock signal are used to send data twice a cycle. An optimized DDR2 SDRAM controller with reduced leakage power and area is presented in this paper, enhancing the efficiency of VLSI applications. In comparison to existing models, this design reduces area by 64.2%, leakage power by 17.7%, and dynamic power by 9.8%. With 2,978ps latency and 6,978 ps timing slack, the proposed controller ensures high-speed, energy-efficient performance.
