Dynamic Simulation of Compressed Air Energy Storage System in Energy Storage Phase Under Different Ambient Temperatures Based on Modelica Software
The compressed air energy storage (CAES) system represents a large-scale technology for electrical energy storage and conversion, which holds significant importance in integrating renewable energy into grids and balancing power grid loads. To enhance understanding of the CAES system's operational characteristics under diverse conditions, this study employs Open Modelica software to construct models of the energy storage phase and simulate parameter variation patterns of system components across different ambient temperatures. Analysis reveals that elevating ambient temperature shortens energy storage duration while reducing thermal dissipation from the air storage tank. Concurrently, the final temperature of the thermal storage tank rises, and although compressor power output increases, overall energy consumption by the compressor decreases.
