Economic Load Dispatch Using a Novel Hybrid Algorithm for DES Brunei Power System
This work addresses the economic load dispatch (ELD) problem in the Brunei Department of Electrical Services (DES) power system by presenting a hybrid optimisation algorithm that combines the Teaching-Learning-Based Optimisation (TLBO) and Jaya algorithms. The study uses HOMER optimisation to find the best solar power configurations by utilising solar integration and hourly load demand data. Previous studies indicate that 22 MW or 195 MW solar plant capabilities would be ideal, and Brunei’s 100 MW solar objective for 2025 is also taken into account. This article provides a scalable model for renewable-integrated ELD solutions by comparing ELD costs across multiple configurations, establishing it as a basis for ELD optimisation in Brunei and other comparable power networks.
