ATM Transaction Using Facial Detection

Financial transactions security in Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) is critical given the increasing levels of fraud and unauthorized access. In this study, a new approach to ATMs' security is outlined by applying facial detection using the Haar Cascade algorithm. It is more secure than the traditional methods of authentication that are prone to theft, skimming, and unauthorized access, such as PINs and cards. Biometric authentication based on facial recognition provides a more secure and user-friendly solution with less risk to the conventional security measures at the ATM. The system uses an integrated camera to scan the facial image of the user during a transaction. The picture is then processed using the Haar Cascade algorithm, a machine learning procedure very efficient in face identification. When facial features corresponding to the pre-registered user profile are identified, access to ATM services is provided through which the transactions can be carried out by only authorized individuals. But unsuccessful attempts at identification block access to avoid unauthorized usage. Conventional PIN-based authentication is vulnerable to various security risks such as skimming and shoulder surfing, rendering it inconvenient and insecure for users. The system under proposal does away with these loopholes by applying the use of biometric authentication, which is both more secure and convenient. Applying Haar Cascade-based face recognition to the design of ATMs can make the security much tighter, reduce the threat of fraud, and ensure an uninterrupted transaction experience to clients.
