Reduced Hardware Utilization with Enhanced Error Reduction for Arcsine/Arccosine Computation using CORDIC Algorithm through the Utilization of a Look-Up Table
CORDIC algorithm is an iterative method to achieve vector rotation without using multiplication. The CORDIC uses computationally intensive square root operation to compute the gain compensation that gets included at each iteration later modified as included at the final stage directly or initiated with the coordinate axis leading to hardware inefficiency and introduces error. By contrast the proposed technique introduces a look-up table method that stores precomputed gain compensation values up to certain iterations which address both concerns simultaneously. When compared to the current approximation technique, the proposed approaches minimize error encountered by 50%, area reduction of 75%, and power reduction of 6%, resulting in significant breakthroughs in CORDIC implementation.
