Design of CMOS based Low Power DCO using MT-CMOS technique

In this paper, analysis of digitally controlled ring oscillators using delay cells is presented with MT-CMOS technique. The logic circuits based on CMOS nanometer technology face challenges like power dissipation and frequency tunning. To address these issues in the design of this DCO circuit, the MT-CMOS technique is used. The proposed 5-bit digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) circuit comprises five delay cells, each constructed using XNOR gates and a PMOS switching network. The work is evaluated in cadence virtuoso using 90nm technology and 1.4V voltage. The new circuit shows better results in power dissipation from (1.119 mW to 1.590 mW) as well as frequency tunning from (19.64 GHz to 64.84 GHz).
