Resilient Design of a Tilt Integral Derivative Controller with Adaptive Differential Evolution Optimisation and Filter for Frequency Control

This article focuses on the design of filter-based Tilt Integral Derivative Controller (TIDN) for frequency control of a multi area power system. At first, an identical two area two-unit power system is considered. In which, one unit is thermal and other unit is hydro systems and their first order models are considered. The system is demonstrated by having TIDN as secondary controller for 1.5% of step load variation in area-1. The gains of TIDN controller are evaluated by using Adaptive Differential Evolution (ADE) technique. The supremacy of proposed scheme is also analyzed by comparing with other published results. Additionally, sensitivity analysis of the proposed scheme is also observed for variations of the parameters. From all the dynamic responses it is observed that, the proposed scheme performs better compared to others.

Abstract

This article focuses on the design of filter-based Tilt Integral Derivative Controller (TIDN) for frequency control of a multi area power system. At first, an identical two area two-unit power system is considered. In which, one unit is thermal and other unit is hydro systems and their first order models are considered.
