A Two-Stage Optimization Strategy for Hybrid Power Systems with Dominated-Hydropower
This study proposes a two-stage optimization scheduling strategy for hybrid energy systems dominated by hydropower, aiming to address the coordination of hydro, wind, solar, and energy storage in the context of energy transition. The first-stage model focuses on resolving the current challenges in coordinating hydro, wind, and solar power, while the second-stage model explores the effect of energy storage in reducing the gap between power generation and demand with increased penetration of wind and solar power in the electrical grid. The findings emphasize that the key to grid-side energy storage deployment is achieving a balance between economic efficiency and system stability. Additionally, improving the accuracy of wind and solar power forecasting is essential for enhancing the reliability of day-ahead scheduling.
