Decentralized digital Ledger for Secure and Transparent crypto Voting
The rights of voters are often compromised due to issues related to immutability, transparency, safety, and privacy in digital voting systems. This survey paper explores the application of blockchain technology in e-voting systems to address these issues and prevent corruption. A systematic literature review approach is adopted, analysing recent studies and applications of blockchain in e-voting. Key aspects reviewed include cryptographic security, decentralized ledger systems, consensus mechanisms, and smart contracts. The survey finds that blockchain technology enhances data integrity, transparency, and vote verifiability. Its decentralized nature prevents tampering, as all voting records are shared across multiple nodes, eliminating a single point of failure. Vote tallying and rule enforcement are automated by smart contracts, reducing human intervention and errors. Traditional e-voting systems face challenges such as susceptibility to fraud, data breaches, and manipulation due to their centralized architecture. Decentralized digital Ledger originally developed for cryptocurrencies, is a decentralized technology known for its security, transparency, and immutability. Recent advancements in blockchain address the limitations of traditional election systems.
