Research on the Construction and Application of the Carbon Footprint Model of Cable Products Based on the Life Cycle Assessment Method

With the proposition of the global “dual carbon” goals, achieving low-carbonization has emerged as the core imperative for the sustainable development of the power industry. As a core component in power transmission, the carbon emissions at each stage of the cable's full life cycle ought to be evaluated systematically and scientifically to meet the urgent demands of low-carbon development. This paper initiates from the six key links in the full life cycle of cable products: raw material acquisition, raw material transportation, production and manufacturing, product transportation, product usage, and decommissioning and recycling. It conducts in-depth research on the carbon footprint model and builds a comprehensive carbon emission factor library. Through quantitative analysis of the carbon emissions of cable products from “cradle” to “grave”, a precise assessment of their carbon footprints is carried out. The research outcomes are intended to offer theoretical underpinnings and practical guidance for the low-carbon transformation of the power industry. Through technological innovation approaches and process optimization measures, it helps to refine the carbon emission management of cable products.
