Analysis of the Impacts of Load-Shifting Dependent DSM Strategy in a Neighboring Locality in Bangladesh
Demand Side Management (DSM) has gained increased attention as a tool to enhance energy efficiency, reduce power wastage, and lower electricity costs for consumers. This study investigates the impact of load shifting on residential power consumption patterns to better manage demand. By collecting and analyzing load profiles from 10 households in diverse locations, realistic and varied consumption data was obtained. Using a Simulink model to simulate load shifting for each household, we assessed the potential to redistribute energy demand from peak to off-peak hours. Findings indicate that approximately 6.7% of the total load can be shifted, suggesting a promising role for DSM in reducing peak demand. These insights could be instrumental in applying load-shifting strategies across a broader consumer base, contributing to more efficient electricity usage and grid stability.
