Design and Characterization of a Graphene Based Multi-Narrowband Metamaterial Absorber for Terahertz Application
A graphene-based tri hexagonal ring-shaped metamaterial absorber (MMA) is designed in this paper for terahertz applications using the simulation software CST. The metamaterial unit cell consists of a graphene patch, a quartz substrate, and gold as the ground plane. The parameters of the suggested MMA structure are analyzed for highest absorption rate including substrate height, different incident angle, and chemical potential. The optimum values of the parameters are used for the design. In the proposed structure, the operational frequency ranges are 3.33-3.48 THz, 3.56-3.70 THz, and 5.53-5.60 THz. At three distinct resonant frequencies in the active operating bands—3.40 THz, 3.62 THz, and 5.56 THz—the designed MMA achieves 99.8%, 97.1%, and 99.1% absorption, respectively. Furthermore, the reflection coefficients of the resonance frequencies are -27.86 dB, -15.51 dB, and -26.68 dB accordingly. The utilizations of these narrow bands are material characterization, terahertz imaging, detection, and sensing appears to have great potential.
