Augmented Reality in Higher Education A Real Time Perspective

In Today’s Environment, Augmented Reality (AR) plays a major role in higher education for students and teachers in many ways. Augmented reality is extensively used to enhance with real world with computer generated information to create interactive experience for users who can interact with real world and computer generated content. This article presents a novel approach to develop a model for campus navigation system using Augmented Reality for our Campus "College of Engineering Guindy", Anna University. This proposed system leverages AR Technology, including 3D models, marker-based tracking, and a combination of Android SDK, Vuforia SDK, AR Core, AR Foundation, Mapbox Showing, and location based AR that utilizes GPS. It also aims in enhancing users experience by providing a user-friendly application for easy and efficient navigation throughout the university campus. By combining AR with marker-based tracking, users can visualize destinations through interactive 3D models in the real-world environment. The system integrates multiple technologies to achieve accurate navigation, including precise marker placements and also real-time Global Positioning System (GPS) data. This research article contributes towards the development of advanced AR technology for campus navigation and improving user’s experiences and showcasing the potential of AR in higher educational institutions.
