World Language Educational Leadership: Research Trends in an Emerging Field
The purpose of this study was to identify themes and suggest future directions in research on leadership in world language education. By analyzing the abstracts of 80 dissertations from education programs, this study identified seven major overarching themes and numerous subthemes. These seven themes and subthemes highlight areas that future research on leadership in world language education should explore as the field continues to develop. The findings also serve as a starting place for teacher educators, language teachers, and researchers to advance knowledge focused on leadership, via developing guidelines, conducting workshops, and teaching courses specifically on leadership in world language programs.
