Potential Applications of Metaverse, VR, AI Chatbots, and AI Speakers in Technology-Based Family Life Education
This literature review explores the potential of emerging technologies to advance the delivery of remote family life education. Traditional online methods face limitations such as privacy concerns, barriers to physical and psychological access, and challenges in applying interactive educational strategies. In response, this study examines the use of the metaverse, virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, and AI speakers to enhance accessibility and provide immersive, personalized learning experiences. The metaverse offers anonymity, flexible spatial configurations, and unrestricted access across time. VR supports perspective-taking, motion-based interaction, and learning regardless of the physical environment. AI chatbots provide human-like companionship, sustained engagement, and tailored interventions, while AI speakers enable continuous access, user-friendly interfaces, and support for family-centered activities. The integration of these technologies holds promise for improving the reach, effectiveness, and long-term viability of family life education.
