Further Additions to the Taxonomy and Distribution of the Temnothorax graecus and T. Aveli Species-Groups (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Greece

Temnothorax nebulosus sp. nov., a member of the T. aveli species-group, is described from the Agrafa mountain region in western Thessaly and Evros regional unit in Thrace. The new species is the smallest and the palest member of the aveli group, and the only one with almost the entire body pale yellow. Temnothorax sappho sp. nov., a member of the T. graecus species group, is described from Lesvos and Samos islands of the North Aegean Islands. It differs from T. aeolius and T. smyrnensis in uniformly yellow antennal club; from T. mytilenes in uniformly yellow femora, and short and triangular propodeal spines; from T. phaetoni in uniformly yellow first gastral tergite only sometimes with a very narrow bright brown apical band and weaker mesosomal sculpture. The number of described non-parasitic species of Temnothorax known from Greece increased to 53. A regional checklist of Greek members of not parasitic species of the genus Temnothorax is given, as well as key to the members of the aveli and graecus species groups.
