New Species of Androsus Gebien, 1921 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Stenochiinae) from New Guinea and the Solomon Archipelago
In the present paper, Androsus arfakianus, A. marind and A. talise spp. nov., new darkling beetles species from the subfamily Stenochiinae W. Kirby, 1837, are described and illustrated. Two new synonyms are introduced: A. violaceus (Pascoe, 1887) = A. violaceus fulgens Gebien, 1921 syn. nov. = A. pommeranicus Kaszab, 1939 syn. nov. First records of the genus Androsus Gebien, 1921 from the Solomon Archipelago and the Arfak Mountains of New Guinea's Doberai Peninsula are presented. A brief discussion on the taxonomy and morphological features of Androsus Gebien, 1921 species from the Papuan Region and Wallacea is provided supplemented with an annotated checklist and a historical overview. The genus Pseudandrosus Kulzer, 1951 syn. nov. is placed as a junior synonym to Sciophagus Sharp, 1885 based on the erroneously selected type species and a subsequent new combination. The taxonomic position of Eucyrtus neomidinus Fairmaire, 1893 in the genus Eucyrtus Lacordaire, 1859 is confirmed.
